From Algorithm Adoption to Institutional Oversight: A New Layer of AI Governance for Latin America
Latin America supplied the raw materials. Today it supplies the data, and receives the decisions. The region holds 6.6% of global GDP and receives 1.12% of global AI investment, while accounting for 14% of global visits to AI solutions. Algorithms designed for other markets govern who gets credit, who gets hired, who gets evaluated. A practitioner reading of why algorithmic accountability is the new governance frontier for Latin America.
